Keeping the Environment Clean

There is a common saying that "prevention is better than cure". We should never get tired of trying our best to save the environment. Firstly, do not litter. I am always amazed to see food wrappers, empty containers, paper and plastic bags piling up in many parts of the city. This is an unhealthy phenomenon because the clogged drains will lead to flash floods. I believe that our Ministry of Health has placed many rubbish bins at the public area. Therefore, we should use the rubbish bins which are provided correctly as a responsible citizen.

Apart from that, we should not carry out open burning. Some of the people thinks that this method is the most convenient and most economical way to get rid of waste but it actually making pollution to our beautiful environment and it eventually causing global warming. Furthermore, we can kick off with a tree-planting activity. Plant more trees in our residential area so that we can have a breath of fresh air.

Moreover, in terms of transportation also, petrol-guzzling and pollutant-emitting machines are a major source of environmental pollution. We can reduce the amount of the emissions by practicing car-pooling and using public transport. The recommended public transit such as bus, train and coach services. Also, when we are just 5 minutes away from our destination,
we ought to walk or cycle instead of
travelling by car.

In addition to this, we can practise 3Rs which are reduce, reuse and recycle. By doing these, we can protect the environment alongside resource and energy consumption. There are two types of wastes. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable. Biodegradable wastes can easily mix with soil while non-biodegradable wastes do not mix with soil. Plastic is the best example of non-biodegradable waste. Besides, we should collect recyclable products: old newspapers, magazines, aluminium cans, bottles and plastics ware and send them  to factory to generate new products.

Otherwise, river is consider as an important part of our lives because it provides us protein sources and domestic use. Hence, we should keep rivers clean by stop dumping rubbish and effluents to avoid further environment pollution. Other than that, the authorities should organize campaigns to raise awareness such as the 'Love Your River' campaign. Besides, we can organize 'gotong-royong' projects in our communities and clean up parts of rivers to revive a dead river polluted river.

As a conclusion, every little action on our part can go a long way in protecting our environment. We must be concerned about whatever we do, because our actions might affect others without sense. If we all get together and make an effort to save the environment, we can make a big difference to our country and the earth!

Thank you. :D
