Where Do I Find Myself in 10 Years

INTRODUCTION

“You don’t dream?” “What would I like to be doing in 3-5 years’ time?”  “Where do I see myself in 10 years?” This kind of questions are always appear in my mind when I calm down after a busy day. Everyone in the world must have their own personal goals. Personal goal can be defined as something that we are trying to do or achieve in one day. Basically, personal goals are categorized as either short-term or long-term. A short-term goal is something we wish to achieve in the near future. These are generally meet within a year. On the other hand, a long-term goal is something we want to reach or master in that particular field in the future. These goals are probably take longer time.

However, most of the time we are having limited beliefs that things are not possible and therefore we will never be possible. Hence, we must first address our limiting beliefs so that when we start to set goals our actions and every move that we make align with those goals. If you say you want to be rich and then you go out to the store and repeatedly look at prices of things saying "That's too expensive", "I'll never afford that", then you've already failed. You need to be on the same frequency of the things you want in life, meaning that you need to live as if you already have what you want. Most of the people have become successful not because of luck, not because of chance, but because in their minds they are already rich enough and always stay positive when facing whatever bad situation comes to them.

WHERE DO I FIND MYSELF IN 10 YEARS

For every time when people asking me what is my ambition and where do I find myself in future, I would feel annoyed about the questions because I really haven't considered that far ahead in my career. In the last oral test in my secondary school I was asked by my teacher: “Which course are u interested and why do u make the choice?”  At that moment the questions made me puzzled for a short time. Then, I said I want to be a pharmacist because I love the science subjects especially for the Chemistry I love it so much! Yup, that was my answer, but it doesn’t seem to be real in my life because I was just casually gave a random answer.

After finish sitting for SPM examination, I had no vision for my further studying. Therefore, I go to find a job and worked as a primary school tuition teacher for a month. During the work time, I met different character of children. Some of them are hyperactive, some are quiet, some are mischievous, and some are easily distracted. I love teaching. However, the uncontrollable students’ behavior was driving me mad. Hence, I decided to resign for the job and then I search another teaching job. This time I work as a homework tutor and till now I am still working for it. This job is much easier than the first because the students are well trained to be discipline.

Come back to the present, I am currently studying at Erican College and taking Diploma in Psychology. I have taken some time to consider before I make the decision for my course. Initially, many of my friends were ready to continue our education at Form 6, however one of my best friend who has started his college life. He takes the same course as me but with different college. Later, he told me about what did he study and what knowledge did he gain after learning psychology for 2 months.

I always like to observe what’s around me. By observing people’s behaviour and action I can uncover the untold story sometimes. Since that, I tend to search more information about this subject. I had found that there is a lot of benefits for psychology students. For example, to help others, diverse career opportunities, able to think critically and self-development.

Psychologists use scientific research to better understand how people learn, interpret events and make decisions. They then translate that knowledge into techniques to help people make smarter choices in their daily lives. After knowing these, I asked myself “why don’t I study psychology?”  Finally, I decided to take psychology courses at Erican College and my success journey has begun at here.

I have a desire to help people deal with difficult situations or mental instability. I believe in myself, 10 years later I will be a successful psychologist especially for the sector of health psychology. My mission is to help people be happier and healthier. People in nowadays are having too much stress in their daily life. Unfortunately, most of them couldn’t dealt with their stress in the right way. Once they work under pressure, they sometimes felt devastated and had an emotional breakdown.

However, as saying goes “What doesn’t kill you, makes us stronger”. I believe that once we can cope with our stress, we will be able to live happily in every day. Fun fact, according to research, the increased risk of dying is only true for the people who believed that stress is harmful for their health. On the contrary, people who experienced a lot of stress but did not view stress as harmful were no more likely to die. In fact, they had the lowest risk of dying.

So, can changing how we think about stress make us healthier? The science says yes! When we change our mind about stress, we can change our body’s response to stress and it is actually helpful for health. Overall, I want to help my clients and patients better in managing their stress, anger, psychological disorders, medical conditions, and mental illnesses well by teaching them effective stress management and relaxation. Happiness is with my love let everyone feel warm. The joy of helping others by what I have learnt is priceless.

With more money and fame comes more responsibilities. There for I need to have a better life management. I have planned to buy a bungalow with a swimming pool and live with my family members. By swimming, I can release my stress and tension. I feel mentally refreshed too after swimming and this is helpful for me as a psychologist. Furthermore, I would like to save 20% of my income for every month to avoid wasting the money on entertainment.

CONCLUSION

It is acknowledging that 10 years is a long time but that I will do my best to lay out a timeline. I know that death is like the wind, always by our side. We will never know when is the death comes to us. Every minute and every second is precious to us. Thus, I will keep polishing up my communication skill so that I can be more confident to give a better counseling. Once again I want to mention that true happiness comes from helping others. Best wishes for me, every single effort I have done will bear fruit someday.
