Stress

Stress can be described as a feeling of being overwhelmed, worried or run down. Stress affects all age groups in the society and people of every gender. It can be present in all types of situation or scene and may cause both physical and physiological health issues. Operationally defined, stress is any emotional experience accompanied by biochemical, physiological and behavioral changes which causes discomfort to a person. Most of the time, stress brings benefits to us. It produces a boost that gives us the drive and momentum to help us get through circumstances such as examinations or due dates of our work. However, if a person encountered a lot of stress persistently, he might be facing health consequences which adversely affects the immune, cardiovascular, neuroendocrine and central nervous systems. So, what are the sources of stress?

SOURCES OF STRESS
(1) Environment
Our environment is always assaulting us with a diverse array of allergens, toxins, pollution, noise, and traffic. Our bodies are always adapting to whatever the external environment is throwing at us. While there are parts of conditions of the environment that are tougher to adapt to, it is vital to note the aspects of the environment that we are both able and unable to keep under control.

(2) Social

There is a wide cluster of stressors within our social worlds placing demands on our time and attention as well as our mental and emotional resources. This social setting is always giving us interpersonal challenges to juggle with: work demands, financial related commitments, family life, and loved ones. So, in order to effectively explore our social worlds without getting overwhelmed by stress, we must figure out how to balance obligations, needs, and desires effectively.

(3) Physiological
Our bodies are always experiencing changes as we go through the days, weeks, months, and years. We seldom give nourishment and the chance to repair our bodies by proper sleep, adequate exercise, and a balanced nutrition intake. Nevertheless, we treat our bodies badly by a lack of rest, a sedentary lifestyle, and a poor diet. The reality of the matter is that we are often our own worst enemies when we cause ourselves to be unhealthy because of poor lifestyle choices. Many unhealthy choices are made to achieve “instant enjoyment” or mistakenly to get rid of the current pressure. The incorrect choices will only lead to the increase our levels of stress in the long-term.

(4) Thoughts
Our own internal cognitive processes are an amazing source of stress for many people. The way that we interpret changes in our surroundings has a great deal to do with the subjective levels of stress that we actually encounter. Two individuals could experience precisely the same change, but if those two people have very different thoughts about the change, their levels of stress will be just as various. For instance, if two individuals both received an e-mail from their manager or educator making a request to talk with them privately at the end of the day, there are very different thoughts that could flash in their mind. One person might think, “Oh my god, I simply know I’m going to get fired!”  While another think, “I must have done really well with that presentation!”  It is so obvious to see how subjective levels of stress will be quite different for these two individuals.

As a conclusion for this part, we can literally know why people nowadays are facing a lot of stress, because there are many sources of stress in our surrounding area, No matter where we go, there must be something that causing us to feel stress. Hence, we should have the ability to resist more amount of stress in order to succeed in life.

Thank you!
